Redwood Tree

The Three Things You Need to Know

There are 3 main things you need to consider for your tree memorial: location, type of tree, and number of spreading rights.

Location

Where in the forest would you like your tree to be located? Different locations have different levels of accessibility and proximity to pathways. Our three areas are wilderness, pathway and premium pathway.

Type of Tree

What type of tree do you prefer? In our Mendocino forest, we have a large selection of redwoods, Douglas firs and tanoak.

Number of Spreading Rights

How many people and pets are you planning for with your tree memorial? You can always add more later on but having a rough idea will help.

Your Location in the Forest

Your memorial location will depend on how important the accessibility of your tree memorial is to your visitors. There are three location areas to consider and each offers a tradeoff between cost and accessibility.

Wilderness
Wilderness Area

Description

Wilderness sections are the most remote and private sections of our forest. The underbrush is not cleared and the land is not level or graded.

Pathway
Pathway Area

Description

Pathway sections of the forest include all areas within 30 to 40 ft from our pathways that are level and clear of underbrush.

Premium Pathway
Premium Pathway Area

Description

Premium Pathway sections of the forest are our most accessible areas either directly on our widest pathways or in our garden and meadow areas.

Accessibiity

Walking in these areas is very difficult and many trees in these section are not accessible to visitors.

Accessibiity

They are accessible to anyone who is comfortable with a gentle hike for 5 – 15 minutes through the forest.

Accessibiity

These are the most accessible trees in the forest and include the meadow area closest to the entrance.

Why Choose Wilderness

Families who choose Wilderness trees want our most affordable choice and are not concerned about visitors to their tree.

Why Choose Pathway

Families who choose Pathway trees want trees that their families can visit, but which are also affordable.

Why Choose Premium Pathway

Families who choose Premium Pathway trees want to have the maximum amount of accessibility for visitors and choice when choosing their tree.

Choosing Your Type of Tree

Our Mendocino forest is a mixed Redwood forest that includes Redwoods, and our mixed forest trees including Fir, Pine and Tanoak.

“The redwoods, once seen, leave a mark or create a vision that stays with you always… The feeling they produce is not transferable. From them comes silence and awe.”
